The government today shot down a request by the Opposition to televise tomorrow’s debate on Shanghai Electric’s €320 million investment in Enemalta.
Opposition whip David Agius questioned this decision, saying the government and Opposition have already agreed to filming debates in the new Parliament, therefore he can see nothing wrong in filming tomorrow’s debate.
In reply, government whip Godfrey Farrugia said tomorrow’s debate is a debate like any other and will proceed as usual without being filmed.
The debate has been a bone of contention between the government and Opposition and has already been postponed twice.
The Opposition said the government should have published all contracts relating to the investment prior to the debate, whereas the government said it has already published everything it is going to publish.
