Yesterday evening the AFM Operations Centre assisted MRCC Rome in a medical evacuation of a pregnant migrant who required medical assistance, the AFM said. The Italian Navy was conducting a large scale Search and Rescue operation of hundreds of migrants, where it transpired that a pregnant female migrant required urgent medical evacuation.

An Italian Navy helicopter C/S I-1588 landed at the AFM’s Air Wing base where an awaiting ambulance transferred the migrant to Mater Dei hospital for further medical treatment.
