Finance Minister Edward Scicluna expressed his confidence that Malta would manage to absorb over 90% of the 2007-2013 funds package.

He was speaking during a visit with the Management of EU Funds unit within the Treasury Department.

"We found a low absorption rate when coming into government," he said, "however through collective work over the past two years we are now at the point where we are confident in achieving a strong absorption rate. I am convinced that through the spirit of collegiality between the workers and managers in this section of the treasury, and through collaboration with other entities linked with the absorption of EU funds, we will achieve our goal".

The minister was introduced to the workers by Director General of the Treasury Noel Camilleri and Head of the EU Funds Management Unit Albert Zahra
