The only government to break Constitution is run by Joseph Muscat and Owen Bonnici – PN

Saturday, 13 February 2016, 14:59 Last update: about 9 years ago

The statements issued by the Department of Information and the Labour Party with regard to the judgment given by the constitutional court on the industrial tribunal law – which were very similar to each other – tried to give the impression that the Nationalist Party was at fault, the PN said in a statement.

Signed by Therese Comodini Cachia, shadow minister for education, and Jason Azzopardi, shadow minister for justice, the PN said that the 2002 law was the same one that was enacted in 1976, which had been drafted by the General Workers Union and enacted by the then Labour government.

If someone has to shoulder responsibility for this it is this Labour government which, although knowing about the eventuality of such a judgment and was even warned about it by the MCESD, it chose to ignore the situation.

The irony of it all is that in the same week that the government led by Joseph Muscat and with Owen Bonnici as Justice Minister broke the Constitution, it is trying to pin the blame on others. The only government ever to have broken the Constitution is this one, the PN concluded.
