Two men were hospitalised this afternoon after being scalded by steam while working on a cruise liner at the Palumbo shipyard, the police said in a statement. 

In all, three Romanian nationals were injured. Two were hospitalised for treatment, a 23- and a 52-year old, and the third was treated on site for his injuries.  The condition of the two who were hospitalised is still unknown.

The accident took place at around 5.30 pm.

The police later said that the men suffered serious injuries.

The Cospicua District Police are investigating the accident.
