A car was destroyed by a fire on a side-road close to the Birkirkara by-pass.

The incident took place on Triq Dun Karm, Birkirkara, just after 11.30am, and members of the Civil Protection Department are on site to put out the blaze.

The police indicated that the issue was caused by a mechanical problem.

No one was injured.
