A new livery design was chosen for the new Air Malta aircraft added to the fleet, named Romeo and Juliet.

The competition called for designers to send their ideas as to design a new Air Malta livery.

The winning design (above) was by US national Mitchell Dill, who designed the plane in a pattern of colourful traditional Maltese balconies. They will dress the windows of the aircraft, in blue, yellow, red and green, the four Air Malta colours.

“In the next weeks our engineers will be working closely with Mitchell to simplify the design and install the Maltese balconies on the aircraft in the form of decals (a design prepared on special paper to be transferred onto the plane),” Air Malta wrote on Facebook.

The second prize (above), The People’s Choice Award was designed by Maltese designer Shaun Psaila, which features the traditional Luzzu.

The winners each won two Business Class tickets for two individuals. A total of 69 designs from various vountries were submitted.
