Leader of the Nationalist Party (PN) Adrian Delia said that the opposition is ready to “support” government on two main issues it has identified within the economy:

Ensuring that wealth is distributed to more people and developing a long-term strategy for the economy.

Delia was addressing the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) on the PN’s proposals for the economy ahead of the upcoming budget.

“The Prime Minister should be responsible and start seriously thinking about what will happen when this positive economic cycle we find ourselves in comes to an end”.

He presented the PN’s pre-budget document on the economy, entitled ‘A sharing economy’, adding that the PN is submitting proposals to government which would make a difference to peoples’ lives in a concrete way. Delia said that just one example is reducing the price of fuel by €0.5c and keeping it under the EU average.

Delia said that the document gives special attention to various sectors that are “often ignored” such as the retail sector, urban regeneration and industrial creativity.
