A 73-year-old Danish diver lost his life in Gozo today.

The police were informed that their assistance was needed at Xatt l-Ahmar, Ghajnsielem, Gozo at 11 am.

Police went on site and through preliminary investigations, it seems the 73-year-old found himself in difficulty while diving. Members of the Civil Protection Department and the Armed Forces were asked to provide assistance and an intensive search began.

Later on in the day, at 5.45 pm, the police were informed that the body was sighted around Armier.

A magisterial inquiry has been called.
