98 applications for boutique hotels, guesthouses submitted in 2017

98 development applications related to boutique hotels, guesthouses and other forms of accommodation have been submitted to the Planning Authority since the beginning of the year.

The information was tabled in Parliament by Transport Minister Ian Borg in reply to a question by government MP Alex Muscat.

Included in the list of accommodation are: Hostels, Guesthouses, Aparthotels, Palazzinos, Boutique Hotels and Tourist Accommodation.

Overall in Malta, St Julian’s had the highest number of applications submitted, with a total of 12. Valletta came in second with 11 applications for accommodation development. Other areas where several applications were submitted were: Gzira (9), Naxxar (3), Cospica(7), Msida (3), Rabat (6), Mosta (3), Sliema (7), St Paul’s Bay (4), Swieqi (4) and Sengela (3).

92 applications were for developments in Malta while there were 6 applications for developments in Gozo. Munxar had 3 applications whilst Qala, Rabat and Xaghra all had 1 application each.
