A 78-year-old man was grievously injured when he was hit by a vehicle in Birkirkara, a statement by the police read.

The incident occurred at 6.45pm on Triq il-Qasab. The 78-year-old Birkirkara resident was hit by a vehicle being driven by a 42-year-old Birkirkara resident.

The elderly man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital and investigations are ongoing.
