PN MEP candidate brings into question PL candidates campaign spending

Saturday, 13 April 2019, 11:44 Last update: about 6 years ago

PN MEP candidate Peter Agius has brought into question the amount spend by PL MEPs on tents for their campaign activities.

In a Facebook post, Agius says that he had asked for a quotation in order to hold an event under such a tent, and said that they asked him to pay €6,500 for renting the material and setup alone. This would include VAT, sound, lighting and video, he said.

The MEP candidate claims that some PL candidates already held up to ten of such events.

"We hear Labour candidates frequently say that Malta comes first before everything else, yet I suspect that they have many people around them who will expect their share before Malta and the Maltese."

He said that for candidates "without millionaire patrons, we are content with local council halls and clubs."

Along with his post, were images of tents set up by Alex Agius Saliba, Josianne Cutajar and Cyrus Engerer.
