Former Nationalist MP and Deputy Speaker Michael Bonnici has passed away.

Born in 1944 in Zebbug, Bonnici served as an MP between 1987 and 2003.

He was a pharmacist by profession.

Bonnici was married to Beatrice Bonnici and they had three children.

In Facebook post, PN chief political coordinator Jean Pierre Debono said Bonnici had always worked without making political distinction for residents of Zebbug. He described the former MP as a gentleman.
