A motorcyclist was seriously injured this morning when the bike he was riding was involved in a crash with a car in Mellieha, the police said.

The accident took place in Manikata Road at 6.45am.

The 22-year-old biker, from Nadur, Gozo, was hurt in a collision with an Opel Corsa driven by a 24-year-old woman of San Gwann.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
