'If we fail, we fail our country,' PN Executive Committee member Ivan Bartolo (not the MP) said in a text message he has sent out on Friday.

In his message, he urges PN general council members to vote 'no' in the upcoming vote of confidence in PN Leader Adrian Delia.

"We are still in time to do something about the situation. We all have a responsibility to rise above emotions and misplaced loyalties. We all have a duty to understand that if we fail, we fail our country. Vote for change. Vote no on 27 July."

On Tuesday, the PN's executive committee met mainly to discuss the upcoming general council and in particular the question surrounding the vote of confidence in Leader Adrian Delia. Delia, exiting the meeting, said that the committee unanimously agreed to put the question he invoked through article 30c of the party's statute forward to the general council. The question will be:  "Should the leader of the Party, Adrian Delia, remain leading the PN until the next election?" the general council is set to take place on 27 July.

Bartolo was one of the petitioners who had presented the petition calling for the vote of no confidence. Right after presenting it, he had told journalists "we are doing this because we want to protect the party and our democracy. We are convinced that the party needs to start a new page with a strong leadership so that we become a strong party and a strong opposition. This is in the best interest of the country."
