An elderly man was seriously injured this afternoon when he was hit by a car in Sliema, the police said.

The accident took place at the Ferries at 1.10pm.

The 75-year-old Sliema resident was hit by a Fiat Punto driven by a 34-year-old man from Eritrea.

The elderly citizen was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
