The Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) has noted that "as a result of a FKNK proposal the Republic of Malta has joined The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) as a Member State."

"Thus Malta joins private members and scientific experts from 86 countries around the world, and 29 CIC Member States which include 15 EU Member States," the FKNK said in a statement.

"The CIC, established in 1928, is a politically independent advisory body which aims to preserve wild game and hunting. To achieve this goal, the CIC is promoting the sustainable use of wildlife resources.  Moreover, the CIC promotes and supports the conservation of wildlife and related landscapes, local communities, and traditions through sustainable use including hunting."
