A woman suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a car in Gzira on Thursday afternoon, the police said.

The accident took place in Sir Fredrick C.Ponsonby Street, at 5.20pm.

The 74-year-old Norwegian woman, who resides in Gzira, was hit by a Mini Cooper driven by a 22-year-old Hungarian woman, from Sliema.

She was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where she was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are underway.
