A man has been given a suspended sentence after he admitted to having injured his pregnant former partner.

The 39-year-old, from Fgura, assaulted his ex during an argument. The pregnant woman suffered slight injuries. 

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit sentenced him to a nine-month jail term, suspended for 18 months. The court also ordered the man no to approach the woman.

The court ordered the assignment of a probation officer to help the man overcome his alcohol problems.
