PN working on animal rights proposals

Tuesday, 17 September 2019, 14:59 Last update: about 6 years ago

The Nationalist Party will be putting forward modern policy proposals and programmes on animal rights, Opposition Leader Adrian Delia said while visiting Noah's Ark as part of the PN's Independence Day activities.

Groups working in the animal rights and animal welfare sectors should be given all the necessary help, including through the allocation of more funding, he said.

Delia took note that organisations like Noah's Ark need modern animal ambulances. "The government should show that they truly have animal rights at heart, and help out such organisations," Delia added.

"Thanks to a PN proposal put forward during the local council reforms, there is a councillor responsible for animal welfare in every council."

He also said that a strong message needs to be sent to those who are cruel to animals. Delia said that the environment is a priority and at the centre of all the party's decisions. He said that studies show that animals suffer due to climate change and when trees are removed. "The PN already put forward proposals to increase the programmes and initiatives for more trees to be planted."
