In 2018, the Housing Authority allocated only 50 social housing units, a Parliamentary Question has revealed.

Social Solidarity Minister Michael Falzon was replying to a Parliamentary Question by PN MP Ivan Bartolo.

The government has been facing criticism that not enough new social housing units are being built. A number of projects are currently underway.

The data tabled in Parliament on Monday shows that eight units were allocated in Valletta, 5 in Paola and 5 in Cospicua. The other localities are: Birkirkara, Fgura, Floriana, Gzira, Hamrun, Kalkara, Kirkop, Mosta, Msida, Paceville, Pembroke, Qormi, rabat, San Gwann, Senglea, Siggiewi, St Julian’s, Tarxien and Vittoriosa.

Between January and June 2017, the authority allocated 139 units. 117 units were allocated in May.
