"Cordial" discussions between the Environment Ministry and the Environment Landscaping Consortium (ELC) continued on Wednesday, with the former confirming that discharge letters issued to its workers have been withdrawn.
A letter sent to employees earlier this week said that the company's attempts to extend the contract did not result in any positive outcome as of yet, adding that due to this the company did not have any alternative but to issue collective redundancies to all employees on its books that will come into effect on 1 January 2020.
The government later said that it was working to avoid this situation.
In a joint statement on Wednesday, the ministry and ELC said discussions were underway to safeguard these jobs.
