Students will be allowed to wear studs, but no earrings, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said this morning.

He said, on Facebook, that he had been approached by parents who were concerned that the hole in their children’s ears would close up if no jewellery was worn.

The minister said that children – boys and girls – will be allowed to wear studs in their ears, but not earrings.

“I have nothing against students wearing a stud (button) which is not dangerous to them as earrings would be,” he wrote.
