A number of trees were damaged or uprooted by the strong winds that have hit the Maltese Islands in the past hours.

Among the worst hit were the trees on East Street in Valletta, close to the Lower Barrakka.

Many of the trees in the area were severely damaged, with some branches falling on cars that were parked beneath them.
