Flowers, candles and photographs place at the foot of the Great Siege national monument as a memorial to assassinated journalist Daphne Caruana Galiza were removed overnight.

The mementoes had been left there during the manifestation held on Wednesday to commemorate the second anniversary of the murder.

Eyewitnesses said the clearing out took place at around 1am.

The mementoes have systematically been removed each time activists place them.
