A man was arrested by the police after he crashed a car he was driving at speed in a bid to escape, the police said. The man was found to be in possession of drugs.

The police said that officers from the Administrative Law Enforcement arrested the man in Emanuele Giordano Street in Gzira at around 1.45am.

The man was seen driving at speed on the Regional Road and was followed by the officers. But, instead of slowing down, the man continued to drive away but later crashed into a parked vehicle.

The police, a 22-year-old Serbian, who resides in Gzira, was found to be carrying a bag containing cash and drugs – cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and 17 packets of cannabis.
