A special meeting with an Olympic swimming champion

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today received a delegation from Special Olympics International, headed by US envoy and Olympian swimming champion Donna de Verona, David Evangelista, CEO of Special Olympics Europe - Eurasia, and Special Olympics Malta President Michelle Muscat.

They were joined by Anthony Agius Decelis, Parliamentary Secretary for Persons with Disability and Active Aging   and Clifton Grima, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Sport and Voluntary Organisations.

Special Olympics International applauded the government for the recent measure to sustain families and individuals who are challenged with disabilities, stating that such benefits are not even available in the United States.

Muscat confirmed the government's support towards NGOs working with children with disabilities such as Special Olympics, and pledged his government's ongoing commitment to help Special Olympics Malta.
