No one was injured when a light aircraft was involved in an accident on Malta International Airport’s main runway.
The incident took place at around 8.45am on Sunday.
Malta International Airport said its Rescue and Firefighting Services Team was dispatched to the scene immediately, taking control of the situation within seconds.
The primary runway was closed but MIA said at around 1130 that normal operations had resumed.
No significant disruptions to the airport’s flight schedule were experienced during the closure of the main runway, it said.
An investigation into what caused the incident is currently underway.
