The European Union must take the reins and lead an industrial revolution that reflects EU values, PL MEP Josianne Cutajar said while addressing the Huawei European Innovation Day.

She spoke about how innovation can be the key for the continent to lead future global policies.

"The citizens we represent wait for us to take action, and above all action results in the improvement of citizens' daily lives," Cutajar said while speaking about European digital sovereignty.

This sovereignty, she said, requires ambition and coordination. The MEP urged further collaboration between member states to take the opportunity to lead the fourth industrial revolution. She also urged more investment in triaining for European workers, so that the best talent would be found in our countries.

"European digital sovereignty is the strongest tool for us to carve out a space for ourselves in the modern world," Cutajar said.

In terms of the US - China trade war, she said that synergy instead of sanctions is needed, as is transparency instead of tariffs.
