Three men arrested in connection with drug find

Three men are being held by the police after they were found to be carrying drugs that were not intended for personal use.

The men were arrested during a routine patrol by members of the Special Intervention Unit in Triq Dragonara, St Julian’s, on Saturday night.

Officers noted two youths acting suspiciously and observed one of them taking a tin from a nearby car. It was at this point that the two men, aged 26 and 21 and both from Qormi. Officers found suspected cannabis grass inside the tin.

One of the men was also found to be carrying €1,300 in cash.  The police then carried out a search at the residence of one of the men, where officers found a backpack containing four bags of suspectd cannabis and two bags of suspected cocaine.

A 27-year-old man from Zebbug was also arrested in connection with the find.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
