Nexia BT’s Brian Tonna has not been questioned by the police, he told The Malta Independent on Wednesday morning.

17 Black owner Yorgen Fenech is on police bail, being questioned in relation to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri is currently under arrest.

17 Black was listed as a target client in leaked emails regarding the opening of bank accounts for Keith Schembri’s and Konrad Mizzi’s (who yesterday resigned as minister) Panama companies.

Tonna, however, has not been questioned by the police when he was contacted by this newsroom.

At first he was unwilling to comment at all.

This newsroom first told him that we had a few questions for him, to which he said that he did not want to comment. This newsroom then asked: “Have you been questioned by the police given the fact that you had set up the two…” at which point Tonna interrupted and said "no".

Nexia BT was the Maltese company that had arranged for Mizzi and Schembri’s Panama companies, as well as the third company Egrant through Panamanian firm Mossack Fonseca.

This information was revealed through the Panama Papers, as was the ownership of two of those companies by Schembri and Mizzi.
