Nexia BT's Brian Tonna reconfirmed with the Malta Independent that he has not been contacted by the police, despite the revelations over the past week.
On 27 November, this newsroom had originally contacted Tonna due to the revelations regarding the arrest of 17 Black owner Yorgen Fenech. Keith Schembri was, at the time, also under arrest. Tonna had said that he was not questioned by the police, when asked by this newsroom.
17 Black was listed as a target client in leaked emails regarding the opening of bank accounts for Keith Schembri's and Konrad Mizzi's (who resigned as minister) Panama companies.
Since the 27 November, several developments have unfolded. Keith Schembri has since been released from arrest, However Yorgen Fenech is pointing the finger at Keith Schembri in connection with the murder of Caruana Galizia.
In addition, the middleman who has been granted a Presidential Pardon, Melvin Theuma, has also said some things in court which concern Schembri. He had also said that Yorgen Fenech used to mention Keith Schembri as his friend a lot.
Due to these allegations, some have been asking whether the police have questioned Brian Tonna.
The Malta Independent asked Tonna on Thursday whether he has been questioned in relation to the ongoing case regarding Daphne Caruana Galizia since this newsroom last contacted him, and if yes, what was said.
