The investigations into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia are still ongoing in an “intensive” manner in spite of the fact that four persons have already been taken to court in connection with the case, the police have said.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, the police said that the investigations are being led by the Homicide Squad and the Economic Crimes Squad with the “active collaboration” of Europol.  All investigations are being done under the umbrella of a magisterial inquiry, the statement read.

“All information that the police have gathered in these last days is being investigated.  In connection with their ongoing investigations, the Police has carried out and is carrying out more searches in a variety of places”, the statement read.

The police said that a number of other persons are being spoken to in relation to the case.

The statement reads that the police would like to clarify that due to the sensitivity of the investigations, the Police is at this stage not in a position to give more details as that could prejudice the case.
