The change must really bring a change; PL should not be blamed for bad apples – Bartolo

The change that will happen must really bring about a change, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said in reference to the resignation of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat – following his office’s connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

In his daily early morning post on Facebook, Bartolo wrote that where necessary there has to be a change of direction for Malta to enjoy a better reputation around the world. The recent developments in the investigation have hit Malta hard in terms of image, with international media describing it as the “island of corruption”.

We need to have economic growth, but this should happen without a few business families hijacking the country, Bartolo said. The Labour Party should not be blamed for the bad apples it has in its fold, because the party has many honest people and goodwill who want to see the government base its work on principles such as employment, social justice, democracy and equality.

Now there will be so much talk about the captain and crew that will lead the PL, and what is important is that we think on the direction we want the country to take, he said.
