Former Labour leader Alfred Sant insists that the new Labour leader should work on a “serious upgrade of public governance”.
It is “imperative”, he writes in his bi-weekly column today.
“That certain decisions – sometimes very big ones, sometimes others that might seem less crucial but which subterraneously can have powerful implications – are taken behind closed doors when not in darkness, and by a chosen few without any public accountability: such practices need to cease.”
Sant was Labour Party leader between 1992 and 2008, and Prime Minister between 1996 and 1998.
