The Medical Association of Malta,and the Association of Surgeons of Malta 'strongly deny' that any Medical practitioner or Surgeon celebrated the death of Daphne Caruana Galizia while on duty on the day of her assassination.

During a sitting of the public inquiry into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia held yesterday, one of the slain journalist's sisters recounted how someone had told her how some  medical staff at Mater Dei Hospital had celebrated when it was confirmed that Caruana Galizia had died in the car bombing.

The aforementioned medical organisations denied this, however "notwithstanding, MAM is requesting Mater Dei Hospital to initiate an immediate and thorough internal inquiry to establish whether any Health care professional was responsible for such ethically unacceptable behaviour and if so, that appropriate disciplinary action taken."
