Part of the protective tent covering over the Ħaġar Qim temples in Qrendi was torn off by strong winds early this morning.

Heritage Malta closed off access to the temples until it could be ascertained that there was no danger to visitors.

Agency staff immediately went on site and ensured all possible measures were taken to prevent further damage to the tent material.

Both the megalithic structures and the metal framework to which the tent is anchored did not sustain any damage.
