A six-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a car in Independence Square, Victoria, the police said.

The Maltese girl was hit by a Fiat Punto driven by a 43-year-old woman from Victoria.

The accident happened at around 7.40pm. 

The girl was given first aid on site and then taken to Gozo Hospital.
