A number of disparaging comments against new Labour leader and PM elect Robert Abela have appeared overnight, drawing criticism from different quarters.
One such message, spray painted on a wall in Pieta', reads: "No continuation. F*** Robert Abela. F*** Neville Gafa." The OPM coordinator was among the first to congratulate Abela on his win yesterday.
Another message, this time in Balzan, reads: "Robert Abela is a bump in the road. Dogs*** on the path. Our fight goes on."
Several politicians condemned the graffiti attacks, including former PL MEP candidate Cyrus Engerer, who said in a Facebook post that, while Abela was not his preference for PL Leader, he can never agree with this kind of attitude from people "whose only aim is to take power."
Nationalists do not change, and they do not give people a chance, he continued.
"How can you judge him [Abela] in this way, even before he has taken the oath of office and before he has even started implementing what he has planned?"
