100 people caught smoking inside establishments, 50 with glass bottles on the street

District police officers conducted 80 inspections in a number of establishments across the Maltese islands since 1 January 2020, a statement read, leading to a number of people being charged.

The inspections took place in establishments which offer alcohol, and restaurants and were conducted by District Police officers.

In total, 100 were charges with smoking indoors, around 50 with drinking from glass bottles on the road, and a number of other charges were brought against establishment owners for playing loud music after the allowed time. The police also said that around 70 were charged for traffic contraventions during the period.
