PN Executive Committee meeting: insults hurled at Jason Azzopardi as he enters

Tuesday, 11 February 2020, 18:42 Last update: about 5 years ago

A meeting of the PN Executive was held at the PN party headquarters and as PN MP Jason Azzopardi entered the building, insults were hurled at him.

Adrian Delia has faced fresh calls for his resignation, after a survey showed that he had an abysmal trust rating. Since then, several high up party officials have resigned, including Clyde Puli from the post of Secretary General, and Robert Arrigo from the post of PN Deputy Leader (who will be staying on till March).

Azzopardi forms part of the group of MPs who want Delia to leave his post. In a Facebook post, Azzopardi said "No one, I repeat no one, will deter my determination by one iota to speak my mind, do the right thing and fight sleazy compromises."

"You will have to kill me to stop me. A much greater responsibility has to be carried by those who within the Leadership aided, abetted & instigated a coordinated, planned, deliberate & ruthless character assassination of some MPs on social media from within the Dar Centrali."

The agenda for this meeting did not include a discussion on the Party Leader Adrian Delia, President Alex Perici Calascione told The Malta Independent Monday, however he had said that it could be brought up during the meeting regardless.

On the agenda was listed the preparation for the elections for a number of post, and these were the posts of Secretary General, the President of the Executive (held by Alex Perici Calascione), President of the Administrative Council (held by Carm Mifsud Bonnici), Treasurer (currently being handled by Robert Arrigo) and International Secretary (currently occupied by Roselyn Borg Knight).

Executive President Alex Perici Calascione had previously told this newsroom that the elections were due last November, but were postponed to latest March at the request of Louis Galea at the time, who is handling the party reforms.
