The Malta Police Force needs to turn the page in order to again regain the public's trust, and "I will continue doing what I can for this trust to be regained," PN MP Beppe Fenech Adami said in a statement.

He said that the PN is following the corruption and abuse scandal, and the force is passing through a difficult time where it is evident "that the culture of impunity and the protection of the corrupt has corroded this important institution."

The PN salutes the many honest police officers who work every day and who feel betrayed by the few among them, he said. He appealed to the government to accept his request that the appointment of the new police commissioner be done through agreement, and through a mechanism agreed upon by the opposition.
