A Libyan man was arrested by the police after he was caught allegedly trying to steal from a private residence in Hamrun, the police said.

The incident took place in Kappillan Mifsud Street at 5.30am.

The Libyan was caught attempting to steal from a residence and was held by three men until police officers arrived.

The 37-year-old man, who lives in Santa Venera, was arrested. The police statement said he was aggressive towards the officers.

He was first taken to the Hamrun police station and later to the Floriana headquarters for further questioning.
