A man was seriously injured on Friday evening when he was hit by a car in Hamrun, the police said.

The accident took place in Joe Sciberras Street at 6pm.

The 33-year-old Syrian man, who resides in Qormi, was hit by a Mazda Demio driven by a 39-year-old woman of Birkirkara.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
