The Ministry of Gozo said that this year, 47,914 people crossed over to Gozo for the Carnival weekend, which is a new national record.

The ministry supplied this information in a press release which also indicated that this amount is a 6.8% increase over 2019 numbers.

Additionally, there was an 8.8% increase in the amount of cars that crossed over to Gozo, with the number standing at 14,960 this year.

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri said that this success is a result of all the effort that has been put into hosting and promoting Carnival activities in Gozo which, in turn, creates a cycle of economic growth for the island.

The minister added that he is proud of this success and he hopes that it will encourage more activities to be held in Gozo as this is all proof that people visit Gozo not only for its defining characteristics but also all the initiatives they can find all year long.

While thanking all those involved in the efficient management of Gozo Channel, he extended his thanks to all entities that made Carnival in Gozo possible, including all local governments.
