The Malta Chamber of SMEs has launched a 'fostering workers' initiative, in a bid to help workers remain in employment.

"Very few sectors are doing well or still going and might need or can afford to take on that extra help at the moment. Whoever is in this situation is asked to get in touch so that we save some workers from redundancies."

The SME Chamber has asked those in such a position to get in touch with them to offer such opportunities. "A number of businesses have workers that are risking imminent layoffs and also vehicles and equipment that is available, ready for use."

The Chamber said that it will help in matchmaking. "Nobody is looking to make any profit out of this, and the only aim is to keep workers in employment and help each other."
