Footage of a man filmed in Naxxar on Friday illegally hunting with a semi-automatic sports rifle during the closed season has been released by the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS).

In a press release the NGO said that thanks to the footage filmed by one of its teams the 'sniper-poacher' was identified by police who will press charges against him. "He is expected to face trial for (i) hunting during the closed season, (ii) carrying and using an automatic rifle not approved for hunting, and (iii) using a forbidden rifle scope for hunting."

CABS continued that this incident shows that although the police have limited resources at the moment poachers still can and will be held responsible for their actions.
