“Malta is on the right track and an example to follow” in dealing with the Coronavirus crisis, the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Regional Director of Europe Hans Kluge, said on Saturday.
With 25 years of experience in medical practice and public health in numerous places around the world, Kluge was nominated by the WHO Regional Committee for Europe and appointed by the WHO Executive Board. He began his position as Regional Director for Europe in February 2020.
Kluge congratulated deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne in a tweet on Twitter regarding the “public health measures” that the government has taken in order to ensure the safety of citizens and fight against the virus.
He described Malta as being among one of WHO’s main collaborators.
Malta was the first country Kluge visited in October 2019 as Regional Director (Nominee), and his visit entailed meeting Minister Fearne. Kluge had expressed his immense satisfaction with the progress and extensive work being made in the areas of mental health and primary care in Malta.
