Workers at the Tal-Kus waste management facility have been provided the necessary protective equipment, WasteServ Malta said.

The waste management entity issued a statement after a Net News journalist alleged today, during the daily briefing by health chief Charmaine Gauci, that the newsroom had received complaints from workers that they are not being provided with the necessary personal protective equipment.

Wasteserv said the following personal protective equipment is mandatory whilst on site at Tal-Kus: Hi-visibility clothing; FFP3 face masks; Safety goggles; Safety gloves.

Other personal protective equipment, such as protective coveralls, half-face / full-face masks and hearing protection, is worn depending on the tasks being performed in accordance with the measures outlined by the relevant risk assessment, the agency said.

"Coincidentally, this morning the head of the Health and Safety unit was at Tal-Kus for a routine inspection and it is confirmed that all of the above personal protective equipment is readily available and is being provided to all personnel in accordance with the risk assessments."
