Two firefighters were injured when they intervened to control a blaze close to the airport, the Malta International Airpirt said in a statement.
Earlier this afternoon, at 3.45pm, smoke was reported close to Apron 4, with the airport’s Rescue and Firefighting Services being requested to respond to the incident.
Malta International Airport said that a fire engine was deployed immediately.
The said vehicle overturned close to Apron 1 before it reached the accident site.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and have been taken to hospital, MIA said.
An internal investigation is currently underway.
